The Airport Car park and a tip to get more leads

I couldn’t find my car; can that help you build your business?

It had been a great holiday, but after 17 hours of travelling and returning to the cold, wet, dark of the UK(before the plane it had been 38 and dry) really wasn’t helping my mood.

At the Heathrow Long stay there were cars everywhere and I couldn’t remember where I put my one. It’s odd, you know they’re all different…….but when you can’t find your one, they all look the same.

I headed down the first row then back up the next, is that it? No…. This wasn’t helping my mood, nor was the heavy rucksack!

Why wasn’t my car highly visible so it would stand out? Why didn’t I know where to look for it?

The next breakfast meeting

The alarm clock went off in the morning and I cursed, sleepily. The flight had been late, but I had promised to go to a networking meeting this morning……

How do you feel when you listen to presentation after presentation? Let alone when you’re tired and cold!

Then it struck me. Trying to find your car in a car park full of similar cars is hard. If I knew precisely what I was looking for it would help, true my car would still have to stand out. If I knew where to look for my car, it would be even easier.

Now, how to adapt that thought to this morning listening to all these people making the same claims, in the same way and how they wanted to meet anybody?

3 final thoughts.

  1. How does your networking speech stand out?
  2. Do you know clearly who you are looking for?
  3. Are you in the right place to find them?
